Fascinating piece! Humans arriving in the Americas 16,000 years ago might deserve an asterisk as the "Clovis First" theory now seems to be outdated. (Rimrock Draw rockshelter >18,000, White Sands footprints: 23,000...Still some debate about Chiquihuite Cave: 30,000)
Thanks, Chad! There are all sorts of asterisks on the dates in this piece. I cut back a couple paragraphs where I added more details about how, where, and when they might have first arrived. The possibility of another 5-10,000 years of human history in North America is really thrilling!
